Ten Years of Uterus Transplantation in the US: Surgical Success, Reproductive Milestones, and Child Development Outcomes

Highlight

After 10 years and 60 uterus transplants in the United States, the procedure has proven to be a feasible and safe pathway for women with absolute uterine factor infertility (AUFI) to achieve pregnancy and childbirth. Most recipients underwent transplantation using living donors, and more than two-thirds succeeded in live births or ongoing pregnancies. Surgical complications requiring reoperation occurred but without life-threatening events. Importantly, children born from these transplants generally demonstrate normal neurodevelopment, with minimal diagnoses reported at three years.
