Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) markedly improves patients’ quality of life in recurrent acute rhinosinusitis (RARS) compared with conservative medical therapy.
The randomized clinical trial showed a significant reduction in symptom burden as measured by the SinoNasal Outcome Test 22 (SNOT-22) at 6-month follow-up.
ESS demonstrated a favorable safety profile, with only a small number of manageable operative complications.
Conservative management alone failed to achieve clinically meaningful improvements in this patient population.
