Age-Dependent Recurrence Risk After Primary Ventral Hernia Repair: Implications for Clinical Practice

Highlight

This large-scale Danish study identifies a strong association between younger age and increased recurrence risk following primary ventral hernia repair. Patients aged 20-29 years had over one-third recurrence prevalence post-repair, much higher than older age groups. This age-dependent pattern persisted across subgroups and after adjusting for confounders, emphasizing the importance of incorporating age into preoperative risk discussions.
