Chorioamnionitis and Funisitis: Critical Modifiers of Fetal Heart Rate Responses and Risk of Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy
Chorioamnionitis, especially with funisitis, attenuates fetal heart rate responses to hypoxia during labor, increasing susceptibility to hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy at milder levels of acidemia in term fetuses.
