In the NEUROTHERM randomized pharmacodynamic trial, a single IV dose of paracetamol reduced intracerebral temperature by a mean 0.6°C in febrile brain‑injured patients and kept temperatures <38.5°C for a median 3.6 hours versus virtually none with placebo.
